  1. Delete personal files or move them to an external storage device.
  2. Delete iTunes backups.
  3. Delete temporary files.
  4. Disable Windows hibernation.
  5. Empty Recycle Bin.
  6. Run Windows Disk cleanup.
  7. Defragment Windows search index database.Defragment initially duplicates the Windows.edb and replaces it with the defragmented version afterwards thus it requires the computer to have enough free space in your file system.
  8. Open a Windows elevated command prompt.
  9. Copy and paste the following then press Enter:
  10. Sc config wsearch start=disabled
  11. Net stop wsearch
  12. EsentUtl.exe /d %AllUsersProfile%\Microsoft\Search\Data\Applications\Windows\Windows.edb
  13. Sc config wsearch start=delayed-auto
  14. Net start wsearch
  15. Close command prompt when Operation completed successfully in xx.xx seconds message is displayed.
  16. Restart your computer.
  17. Failed or unsuccessful? Please continue to Step 8.
  18. Delete Windows search index database file and rebuild Index.Open a Windows elevated command prompt.
  19. Copy and paste the following and hit Enter:
  20. Sc config wsearch start=disabled
  21. Net stop wsearch
  22. Del %AllUsersProfile%\Microsoft\Search\Data\Applications\Windows\Windows.edb
  23. Sc config wsearch start=delayed-auto
  24. REG ADD “HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows Search” /v SetupCompletedSuccessfully /t REG_DWORD /d 0 /f
  25. Restart your computer.
